Finding Work: Beginner is an English language resource to help students understand the processes of jobseeking and to develop the language they need to seek and obtain employment.
Unit 1 provides information about work in Australia, including employment sectors and categories, employment conditions, leave, pay and starting work.
Units 2 to 5 follow a range of characters who are looking for work in different employment contexts. In the DVD sequences the characters go though jobseeking processes including:
- defining goals
- describing skills and experience
- enlisting help
- finding out about jobs
- applying for jobs
- getting a job interview
- learning about workplaces
- preparing for and attending an interview
- starting work
The activities help students develop the language they need to engage in their own job search.
