Skillmax - Jobseekers is for skilled migrants seeking employment in their chosen profession. It focuses on successful jobseeking strategies.

It provides you with an awareness of the Australian employment market and workplace culture, so you can understand how things are different here. Skillmax - Jobseekers will then teach you how to overcome those differences with strategies including how to promote yourself in person, in writing and on the phone and how to tailor your applications for each job. 

Entry is at IELTS 6.5 or equivalent English level.

Course topics include:

• workplace culture 
• trends in the Australian labour market
• finding your fit in your field of expertise
• developing a career portfolio 
• writing your résumé and cover letter
• identifying employment opportunities
• preparing for a job interview
• career management skills
• marketing yourself effectively

Additionally, human resource specialists and employers will provide presentations and interactive workshops on the current expectations of finding work and career advice.

• how to develop your CV
• how to prepare for an interview
• how to identify employment opportunities
   

Certification

Nationally Recognised Qualification
Students can obtain Statements of Attainment for modules from Certificate IV in Spoken and Written English. 

This qualification is recognised throughout Australia.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and credit transfer

RPL from previous training, work or life experience is available to all students. When you begin your studies we give you information about how to apply for RPL . As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), NSW AMES recognises all equivalent qualifications issued by RTOs under the Australian Quality Training Framework.

Assessment

When you begin your studies with NSW AMES, we give you information about assessment and how we record and report your results. If you have any questions or concerns about assessment or want to make an appeal, first talk to your teacher. At the end of your course we give you a written record to show that you have successfully completed a module, course or qualification.
